Dyaspora Dialogues
In recognition of the rich complexity and global breadth of Black identity, the Dyaspora Coordinating Committee (DCC) is developing Dyaspora Dialogues, a community-rooted dialogue series designed to bring members of the Black Diaspora into meaningful conversation across borders.
Drawing on the facilitation expertise of DCC’s founding chair and informed by the organization’s commitment to diasporic solidarity, this project will convene virtual and in-person gatherings that explore the nuances of Blackness across geography, culture, language, and lived experience. From Port-au-Prince to Philadelphia, from Dakar to Detroit, these dialogues will provide space for Black people to learn with and from one another. These will be spaces where Black folks can share stories, build relationships, and explore how history, migration, and social conditions shape both identity and imagination.
By creating transatlantic spaces of mutual learning and exchange, Dyaspora Dialogues aims not only to deepen diasporic understanding, but also to inspire new solidarities and collective action. Through carefully facilitated sessions, participants will reflect on themes such cultural resilience, Black liberation, and the roles of art, language, and memory in shaping diasporic futures in the face of multiple intersecting sites of oppression.
