Covid-19 RelieF Fund
In light of the current global situation related to the Covid-19 pandemic and following the past year of political unrest where the country of Haiti was on lockdown, many in the community of Bassin Bleu and Jacmel as a who are struggling with general hunger and food insecurity. A key source of income and economic activity for Jacmel and Bassin Bleu residents was the tourism from Haitian Americans and other travelers -- visitors to the city and the falls who would hire guides, frequent the beaches, work on retirement homes, purchase cooked food, etc. -- this activity was already at a trickle in 2019 due to political unrest but has come to a screeching halt as a result of the pandemic.

To respond to this emergent issue, the Dyaspora Coordinating Committee is partnering with colleagues on the ground in Jacmel who have been successful at securing funds and delivering food aid to families that includes provisions of rice, beans, and cooking oil at a cost of $25 USD per family. Our goal is to support 50 families for the month of June.
